Only full or part-time federal employees (including military federal civilian employees) are eligible to apply for Starr Wright USA's Federal Employee Professional Liability Insurance (FEPLI) plans. Regardless of which plan you choose, keep in mind that all federal agencies are required by law to reimburse qualified employees up to half of their annual premium for their coverage.

FEPLI is so important, Congress enacted legislation requiring agencies to reimburse qualified employees up to 50% (up to $150) of the cost of Professional Liability Insurance coverage.

Exclusions

Exclusions for professional liability insurance for current federal employees include:

Any obligation for which the member or any carrier as his insurer may be held liable under any workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, disability benefits law, or other similar law.
Damage arising out of willful violation of a penal statute or penal ordinance committed by or with the knowledge or consent of the member, or damages arising out of acts of fraud committed by or actual intent to deceive or defraud.
The liability assumed by the member under any contract or agreement.
Bodily injury arising out of the ownership, operation, or the use of any land motor vehicle designed for use principally on public highways, including any apparatus attached thereto, or any aircraft or watercraft.
Damage to property owned, occupied by, or rented to the United States Government or member, property used by the member, property in the care or control of the member, or as to which the member is for any purpose exercising physical contact (not applicable to property or persons in custody or property under lawful control.
Any liability for hazardous substances, including asbestos
Bodily injury or property damage resulting from accidents caused by nuclear materials.

Exclusions for federal contractors/former federal employees include:

Bodily injury or property damage
Infringement of copyright;
Infringement of trademark, trade name, trade dress, service mark, service name, title, or slogan;
Infringement of patent;
Unfair competition, restraint of trade, or any other violation of antitrust laws;
Unlawful discrimination, harassment or retaliation including that based on race, creed, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sex, marital status, or sexual orientation;
Gain, profit or advantage to which an insured is not legally entitled; and
Other exclusions may apply.

Starr Wright Risk Purchasing Group is a Washington, D.C., registered Risk Purchasing Group and limited liability company that makes available voluntary risk management products and services, other voluntary benefits, and educational services to federal employees. Starr Wright USA acts as the Starr Wright Risk Purchasing Group’s program administrator.

²LPS (Loss Prevention Services) Endorsement provides up to two hours of phone consultation with a legal professional to try to reduce your liability exposure before a claim is filed.
³Plan includes Security Clearance coverage (at no extra cost) to defend against any administrative proceedings to revoke an insured's security clearance.
